A major new initiative for this coming winter is that Yellowknife Bay Soccer Club and the Aurora Minor Soccer League (AMSL) are teaming up to provide better opportunities for both our coaches and players!
While YBSC and AMSL have worked together in the past, this coming year we intend to take our partnership to a whole new level.
We will be cooperating to provide comprehensive coach education and training with Nationally-recognized coaches. This will take the form of both on-field training with players as well as on-line training seminars. Our primary coach educator will be Sean Fleming, former coach of Canada's National U17 Mens team. Sean has taken on the role of Player and Coach Development Advisor with YBSC. We brought Sean to Yellowknife this past April and he will be here again in October. For more information about Sean, please see this link:
Tales of Sean Fleming, Canadian soccer’s unsung ‘common denominator’: CPL DEEP DIVE
We are extremely fortunate to have a coach educator as experienced as Sean to provide training to the YBSC and AMSL coaches.
In addition to coach development, YBSC and AMSL's partnership will also include YBSC players and teams playing in the AMSL. The exact structure of YBSC's participation in AMSL will depend upon the age group and the player enrollments in both organizations and so we will be working together closely this fall to see what works the best.
For Sunpups and U5, if you register with both YBSC and AMSL, YBSC will provide a 25% rebate on our fees to make joining both organizations more affordable while increasing your child’s time on the field.
For U7 to U15, it is anticipated that the YBSC-AMSL partnership will be similar to how minor hockey is structured in Yellowknife with the Sundogs teams playing in a higher age group in AMSL.
YBSC is very excited about our partnership with AMSL and doing everything we can to improve the soccer experience for all of our coaches and players!
